CODE: AD Maine School Administrative District No. 31 EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY MISSION We, the communities of M.S.A.D. #31, envision that the Board of Directors, Administrators, Teachers, Students, Parents, and Community members will work and cooperate as a team to enable our graduates to develop skills in order to pursue multiple opportunities throughout their life. M.S.A.D. #31 is a community of learners. These learners are led to develop a positive sense of self, and respect for others. They acquire the basic skills and technological abilities necessary to become independent thinkers and learners who are contributing members of society. They realize not only who they are, but also who they can become in a constantly changing world. M.S.A.D. #31 is a community of educators. These educators believe that all children want to and can learn. The members of this community are committed to student-centered instruction using appropriate technologies, the mastery of basic skills needed for problem solving, and the development of authentic assessment. They demonstrate enthusiasm, professionalism, and continuous self-improvement, always conscious of their responsibility to be role models. M.S.A.D. #31 is a community of citizens. These citizens work together to provide the resources to offer the best possible education to all community members. They are committed to providing an emotionally and physically safe environment where all individuals are treated with respect and dignity. The citizens are valued in the decision making process of the school system. Parents, business people, and other adults of the community believe in preparing students to be productive citizens, and providing staff development opportunities for educators.
